Commodity Manager (m/f/d) – Forged, Cast, Milled, and Turned Parts

Westfalia-Automotive Group is an association of leading worldwide manufacturers and suppliers of towing systems and transport solutions for OEM/OES and the aftermarket. With 5 production sites worldwide and additional locations in key markets, Westfalia-Automotive Group and its 1,800 employees provide outstanding solutions tailored to individual customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Global management of the steel product group (flat products, solid stock, tubes) for all locations regarding quality, costs, and schedules
  • Analysis of relevant expenditures at the commodity group level and development of commodity and supplier strategies
  • Continuous procurement market research and identification of new suppliers
  • Supplier evaluation and development in close coordination with related departments
  • Support for project purchasing during the procurement process for new contract awards
  • Independent development and implementation of cost-reduction measures
  • Execution of VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and Make-or-Buy projects
  • Responsibility for independently drafting supplier‑specific contracts (e.g. supply agreements, quality assurance agreements, and confidentiality agreements)
  • Preparation and conduct of cross‑project negotiations (annual and multi‑year price negotiations) ensuring required capacities at supplier level
  • Conducting supplier potential analyses and participating in supplier audits
  • Reporting to Purchasing Management and Executive Management
Qualifications
  • Completed commercial or technical vocational training or university degree (e.g., Industrial Engineering)
  • Several years of professional experience in a comparable position, preferably in the steel or automotive supplier industry
  • In‑depth knowledge of steel markets, price formation mechanisms, and supply chains
  • Strong negotiation skills and high levels of constructive assertiveness
  • Highly proficient in English to lead complex negotiations in English
  • High level of initiative and a proactive working style
