Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Commodity Manager to lead global sourcing strategy for custom components and indirect materials. The ideal candidate will have 6–10 years of experience in commodity management, a strong understanding of precision manufacturing processes, and the ability to negotiate contracts effectively. This role includes developing sourcing strategies and overseeing supplier performance. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master’s preferred. Salary range is between $95,000 and $115,000 per year, with additional bonuses.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of commodity management or strategic sourcing experience.
• Experience in qualifying suppliers and managing tooling.
• Familiarity with supplier quality systems (ISO standards).

Responsibilities

• Develop global sourcing strategy for custom machined parts.
• Negotiate supply agreements and manage supplier contracts.
• Support NPI programs and collaborate with Engineering.

Skills

Strong understanding of precision manufacturing processes

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Negotiation skills

Supplier relationship management

Proficiency with SAP MM

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Master’s degree (MBA or Supply Chain) preferred
