Job summary

Van Meter Inc. is seeking a Commodities Team Member in Cedar Rapids to support customer orders efficiently and accurately. You will handle order filling, palletizing, labeling, and staging, using a forklift and manual handling to ensure timely delivery to customers and branch locations.

The role requires ability to lift 100 lbs, operate lift trucks, and maintain inventory with attention to safety and accuracy. Experience with RF scanners and basic computing is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous distribution center experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis.
• Ability to operate lift truck equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Knowledge of Eclipse preferred.
• Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire in an efficient and accurate manner based on department procedures.
• Receive and unload commodities from delivery trucks.
• Utilize forklift equipment to properly locate inventory throughout warehouse.
• Prepare product for delivery to customers and/or other branch locations by palletizing, banding, labeling and staging of material.
• Properly secure, ship and load material for customer delivery.
• Accurately maintain commodities inventory, including reporting of inventory discrepancies.
• Daily maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of equipment and tools.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives.
• Assist in maintaining distribution center cleanliness and order.
• Cross-train in other departments as needed.
• Support team members by participating in team lifts.
• Participate in commodities team process improvements.
• Provide coverage in areas of the distribution center in which staffing is low and work level is high
