Job summary

Van Meter in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Commodities Team Member to support order fulfillment, receiving inventory, and order accuracy. You will use a forklift and manual handling to pick conduit, pipe and wire, palletize and prepare items for delivery to customers or other branches.

You will work independently and with the Commodities Team Lead to ensure safe, efficient processing, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous distribution center experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis.
• Ability to operate lift truck equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to work extended shifts as needed.
• Demonstrated computer skills; familiarity with Eclipse and RF scanners a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire accurately per procedures.
• Receive and unload commodities from delivery trucks.
• Operate forklift to locate inventory and move materials.
• Prepare products for delivery by palletizing, banding, labeling, and staging.
• Manually lift and handle material as required.
• Maintain accurate commodities inventory and report discrepancies.
• Ensure daily maintenance, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
• Participate in process improvements and cross-training.
