Job summary

EMC Mechanical Services seeks a Commissioning Technician to support startup, testing, troubleshooting, and turnover of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems in Richmond, VA. You will verify installations, participate in functional testing, and collaborate with project teams to ensure systems are fully operational and ready for occupancy.

The role require 2–5 years in HVAC/plumbing/controls, strong English, and a valid VA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two to five years of experience in commercial HVAC, plumbing, controls, commissioning, service, or mechanical construction is preferred.
• Experience reading mechanical plans and specifications is preferred.
• Fluent English verbal and written skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with startup of commercial HVAC and plumbing equipment.
• Verify installation readiness prior to manufacturer startup and participate in functional testing.
• Maintain commissioning checklists and startup reports; document startup dates and operating conditions.
• Coordinate with Controls and TAB contractors; support manufacturer startup technicians and owner turnover.
• Attend commissioning meetings with owners, engineers, and general contractors.
