Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services is seeking a Commissioning Technician to ensure that compression units operate safely while assessing, adjusting, and cleaning them. You will maintain customer relationships and comply with Kodiak procedures throughout testing and reporting processes.

The role requires 2–3 years in natural gas compression or related field, plus experience with OEM manuals, tools, and vehicle operation. On-site work and weekly reporting are core aspects of the position.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years in natural gas compression or related experience.
  • OEM, trade school, or comparable work experience in a related field/industry.
  • Day-to-day completion of job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical intuition or ability.
  • Comprehension of OEM and miscellaneous technical manuals and literature.
  • Operation of commercial vehicles, specialty tooling, and cranes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude/mechanically inclined.
  • Communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Positive attitude and high energy.
  • Nominal supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assessment of unit including any needed calibrations, cleanings, controls or system checks per Kodiak standards.
  • Complete Expense Reports legibly, detailed and timely per guidelines set by Kodiak
  • Escalate unit issues that cannot be resolved to supervisor and/or manager
  • Ensure all required data collection is correct and complete
  • Responsible for ensuring all units are operating correctly
  • Be on location for every test performed
  • Perform corrective action as needed based on failed emissions testing
  • Follow‑up tests when out of compliance
  • One day per week spent on preparing/submitting reports
  • Once per month servicing truck
  • Weekly Communication with supervisor on any compliance issues, an update of weekly schedule
  • Maintain communications with emissions, operations and customers

Position Summary

Physical Demands
  • Overtime, extended or non‑traditional working hours may be required

  • Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location‑by‑location basis

  • High noise environment (>85 dbA) will occur with ear protection

  • Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting for long periods of time

  • Climb ladders up to 25 feet

  • Ability to use common hand tools related to job needs
