Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services is seeking a Commissioning Technician to ensure compression units operate safely. You will assess, adjust, and clean equipment and maintain customer relationships while adhering to company procedures.

The role involves on-site testing, data collection, and timely reporting. Candidates should have 2–3 years in natural gas compression, basic mechanical aptitude, and ability to work with OEM manuals and field equipment.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in natural gas compression or related experience.
• OEM, trade school, or comparable work experience in a related field/industry.
• Strong mechanical intuition and ability.
• Comprehension of OEM and technical manuals and literature.
• Operations of commercial vehicles, specialty tooling, and cranes.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessment of unit including calibrations, cleanings, controls or system checks per Kodiak standards.
• Prepare and submit reports; complete expense reports legibly and timely.
• Escalate unit issues to supervisor/manager when unresolved.
• Maintain accurate data collection and ensure units operate correctly.
• Be on location for every test performed; service truck monthly.
• Communicate with emissions, operations and customers on a regular basis.

Position Summary

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for ensuring that compressions units are operating safely upon assessing, adjusting and cleaning. He/she must comply with all company procedures and develop and maintain customer relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete assessment of unit including any needed calibrations, cleanings, controls or system checks per Kodiak standards
• Complete Expense Reports legibly, detailed and timely per guidelines set by Kodiak
• Escalate unit issues that cannot be resolved to supervisor and/or manager
• Ensure all required data collection is correct and complete
• Responsible for ensuring all units are operating correctly
• Be on location for every test performed
• Perform corrective action as needed based on failed emissions testing
• Follow-up tests when out of compliance
• One day per week spent on preparing/submitting reports
• Once per month servicing truck
• Weekly Communication with supervisor on any compliance issues, an update of weekly schedule
• Maintain communications with emissions, operations and customers

Education, Experience, & Training

• 2-3 years in natural gas compression or related experience
• OEM, trade school, or comparable work experience in a related field/industry
• Day-to-day completion of job responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Strong mechanical intuition or ability
• Comprehension of OEM and miscellaneous technical manuals and literature
• Operation of commercial vehicles, specialty tooling, and cranes
• Strong mechanical aptitude/mechanically inclined.
• Communication and customer service skills
• High level of organizational skills
• Microsoft Office suite (excel, word, outlook)
• Positive attitude and high level of energy
• Nominal supervisory experience

Physical Demands

• Overtime, extended or non-traditional working hours may be required
• Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location-by-location basis
• High noise environment (>85 dbA) will occur with ear protection
• Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting for long periods of time
• Climb ladders up to 25 feet
• Ability to use common hand tools related to job needs
