Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services LLC seeks a Commissioning Technician to ensure compression units operate safely. You will assess, adjust, and clean equipment, develop customer relationships, and follow Kodiak procedures with attention to detail.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in natural gas compression, strong mechanical aptitude, and solid communication skills. This role requires on-site work, occasional overtime, and coordination with emissions and operations teams.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years in natural gas compression or related experience.
  • Strong mechanical intuition and ability.
  • Communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with OEM manuals and literature.
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles, tool sets and cranes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Assess, adjust and clean compression units to ensure safe operation.
  • Complete unit calibrations, controls or system checks per Kodiak standards.
  • Maintain data collection accuracy and complete expense reports on time.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Be on location for every test performed and service trucks monthly.
  • Perform corrective actions based on emissions testing results.
  • Coordinate follow-up tests if out of compliance and report weekly with supervisor.
  • Maintain communications with emissions, operations and customers.

Position Summary

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for ensuring that compression units are operating safely upon assessing, adjusting and cleaning. He/she must comply with all company procedures and develop and maintain customer relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete assessment of unit including any needed calibrations, cleanings, controls or system checks per Kodiak standards
  • Complete Expense Reports legibly, detailed and timely per guidelines set by Kodiak
  • Escalate unit issues that cannot be resolved to supervisor and/or manager
  • Ensure all required data collection is correct and complete
  • Responsible for ensuring all units are operating correctly
  • Be on location for every test performed
  • Perform corrective action as needed based on failed emissions testing
  • Follow-up tests when out of compliance
  • One day per week spent on preparing/submitting reports
  • Once per month servicing truck
  • Weekly Communication with supervisor on any compliance issues, an update of weekly schedule
  • Maintain communications with emissions, operations and customers
Education, Experience, & Training
  • 2-3 years in natural gas compression or related experience
  • OEM, trade school, or comparable work experience in a related field/industry
  • Day-to-day completion of job responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Strong mechanical intuition or ability
  • Comprehension of OEM and miscellaneous technical manuals and literature
  • Operation of commercial vehicles, specialty tooling, and cranes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude/mechanically inclined.
  • Communication and customer service skills
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office suite (excel, word, outlook)
  • Positive attitude and high level of energy
  • Nominal supervisory experience
Physical Demands
  • Overtime, extended or non-traditional working hours may be required
  • Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location-by-location basis
  • High noise environment (>85 dbA) will occur with ear protection
  • Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting for long periods of time
  • Climb ladders up to 25 feet
  • Ability to use common hand tools related to job needs
