Job summary

MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure seeks personnel to inspect photovoltaic power plants, perform commissioning tests, and document results. Candidates will communicate observations to the Commissioning CM/GF and assist with troubleshooting.

Requires electrical experience and PV installation exposure; OSHA 10/First Aid and NFPA 70E preferred. Position emphasizes safety, precise documentation, and collaboration with field teams on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred.
• Photovoltaic installation experience.
• One year of electrical experience required.
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferred.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Inspect PV plants to construction specifications and perform commissioning documentation.
• Document issues and prepare neat documentation for CX CM/GF review.
• Assist with field test data entry as needed.
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date.
• Support third party testing and inspections (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests).
• Follow safety procedures and ensure PPE use and equipment calibration.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for working within a team to perform required system inspections on utility PV power plants. Perform mechanical/electrical inspections and commissioning testing. Document all inspections, observations, and test results. Communicate inspections, observations and test results with Commissioning CM/GF. Document and assist with PV system troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection of PV plants to specifications of construction documents
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation in a neat and orderly manner for review by the CX CM/GF
• Assist Commissioning CM/GF with field test data entry as needed
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date
• Support third party testing and inspections (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.)
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees
• Keep testing equipment clean and orderly at all times and ensure calibration is up to date
• Report any missing or broken equipment to CX CM/GF and inform them when consumables are low
• Care for and maintain all issued PPE in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
• Work together with other Techs ensuring quality of work and adherence to all safety procedures
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to use a multi-meter

• Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
