Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking an AV Installation Technician responsible for the installation, final testing, and commissioning of complex Audio-Visual systems during and after build. You will work with the Project Manager to document test results, ensure system performance, and adapt to out-of-hours work when required, supporting customer sites across assignments.

Key duties include reading schematics, wiring, testing, and commissioning; troubleshooting AMX/Crestron and DSP systems; and traveling to job

Qualifications

  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment.
  • Understanding of IP networking and signal flow.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission AV systems on site and post-build.
  • Read schematics and architectural blueprints for installation.
  • Test point-to-point functionality and troubleshoot AMX/Crestron and DSP.
  • Program DSP systems and perform minor programming changes.
  • Travel to multiple job sites as needed and provide client training.

What You’ll Do

Day-To-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform installation tasks as noted in job summary based on project scope and directives
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other installation system related tasks
  • Test point-to-point functionality of systems
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation
  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting for AMX/Crestron and DSP systems
  • Field installation of control programs (AMX/Crestron) – upload and download capability
  • Write code for DSP systems
  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network
  • Perform client training and final job documentation as needed
  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager
  • Create, track, and complete a project Punchlist
  • Ability to travel to various job sites required
  • Ad hoc additional Multimedia requests from Morgan Stanley

  • This position will work exclusively on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.

  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Solid organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools, and materials.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of AV Installation experience preferred
  • A four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
  • Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.) both hardware and software
  • AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Climbing, overhead work, and working at heights.
  • Use of tools and equipment as required.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical support.
