Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking an AV Installation Technician to install, test, and commission complex audio-visual systems at client sites. You will interpret schematics, perform detailed testing, and provide training and thorough documentation.

You’ll join a team that collaborates with Project Managers to achieve project objectives, with some out-of-hours work and travel to client locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Hands-on experience installing, testing, and commissioning AV systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation tasks based on project scope and directives.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Use hand and power tools to install and test AV components.
  • Test point-to-point functionality and troubleshoot AMX/Crestron and DSP systems.
  • Field install control programs and write DSP code as needed.
  • Provide client training and finalize project documentation.
  • Travel to various job sites as required.

Job description

This role is responsible for the installation, final testing, and commissioning of complex Audio-Visual systems during and post build. This position will also provide technical leadership on major tasks or technology assignments as well as establish goals and plans that meet project objectives. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to provide documented test result from system testing and commissioning. This role must be flexible in terms of working hours with an element of out-of-hour work expected.

  • Hands-on installation, testing, and commissioning of AV systems.
  • Skills include interpreting schematics, using tools, testing system functionality, troubleshooting, and client training.
  • Required qualifications: technical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently or as part of a team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Day-To-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform installation tasks as noted in job summary based on project scope and directives
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other installation system related tasks
  • Test point-to-point functionality of systems
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation
  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting for AMX/Crestron and DSP systems
  • Field installation of control programs (AMX/Crestron) – upload and download capability
  • Write code for DSP systems
  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network
  • Perform client training and final job documentation as needed
  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager
  • Create, track, and complete a project Punchlist
  • Ability to travel to various job sites required
  • Ad hoc additional Multimedia requests from Morgan Stanley

  • This position will work exclusively on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.

Must-Haves

  • Minor programming capability (AMX/Crestron) – changes and troubleshooting
  • Ability to diagnose complex system problems
  • Knowledge of Advanced signal flow for audio, video, and control
  • Understand IP networking
  • Advanced PC proficiency
  • Effective communication and interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues
  • Excellent multitasking capabilities while adapting to changing priorities
  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Solid organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools, and materials.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of AV Installation experience preferred
  • A four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
  • Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.) both hardware and software
  • AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Climbing, overhead work, and working at heights.
  • Use of tools and equipment as required.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical support.
  • Warehouse, field, or construction environments.
