Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Commissioning Officer to join the Partnerships and Commissioning Service, focusing on Direct Payments within the Personalised Commissioning Team. You will broker services to meet care needs and contribute to service development through research and stakeholder engagement.

You will line-manage Assistant Commissioning Officers and oversee complex cases, supporting day-to-day operations and timely decision-making.

Qualifications

Relevant experience in an organisation responsible for commissioning social care or similar services.
Collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage challenging, complex situations.
Clear, logical, analytical problem-solving skills; well organised with strong time management.

Responsibilities

Develop and embed Direct Payments approach within Personalised Commissioning; contribute to project work and stakeholder meetings.
Line manage a small team of Assistant Commissioning Officers and supervise complex cases.
Support day-to-day service delivery, act as a duty officer for queries, ensure timely decisions.
Work closely with social work teams, care providers, individuals and families; build strong relationships.
Collaborate with other Commissioning Officers to manage workflow and allocate cases efficiently.
