Job summary

A base salary in the range of $120,000 to $160,000 is offered, with per diem, a company car, and ESOP participation. Travel is 100% full-time to project sites.

Commissioning Manager – Data Center Construction

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Travel: 100% / Full-Time Travel

Role Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of major data center construction projects. This permanent opportunity offers a $120,000–$160,000 base salary, per diem/subsistence, a company car, and participation in an ESOP program.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established commissioning professional looking to move into the rapidly growing data center and mission-critical construction sector. Previous data center experience is not required. Our client is open to candidates with strong commissioning experience gained within construction, engineering, MEP, industrial, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex environments.

The successful candidate will lead and coordinate commissioning activities, working closely with construction, engineering, subcontractor, vendor, and project teams to ensure critical systems are tested, validated, documented, and successfully handed over.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop, implement, and manage commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and documentation.
• Oversee the commissioning of complex mechanical, electrical, controls, and building systems.
• Coordinate with construction teams, engineers, MEP contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor commissioning progress against project milestones and proactively address risks or delays.
• Oversee inspections, functional testing, start-up, verification, and system validation.
• Ensure commissioning activities meet project specifications, engineering requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
• Manage test records, punch lists, issue tracking, commissioning documentation, and project closeout.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues throughout the commissioning process.
• Drive systems through final acceptance and successful handover to operations.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and technical compliance.

Requirements

• Proven commissioning experience within the construction or engineering industry is essential.
• Data center experience is not required — candidates from other technically complex construction and engineering sectors are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, testing, start-up, validation, and handover processes.
• Experience with complex MEP, mechanical, electrical, controls, or building systems.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and the transition from construction completion through commissioning and final handover.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, engineering disciplines, and project stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, technically demanding construction environments.
• Must be willing and able to travel full-time to project sites.
• Relevant engineering, construction, building services, or technical qualifications are preferred.
