Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers, a Wayne, PA-based engineering firm, seeks mid-level commissioning engineers with data center experience to travel to client sites across the U.S. and support on-site testing of electrical systems, UPS, generators, and distribution controls for high-profile facilities.

You will join a team delivering hands-on commissioning and QA/QC services, write test scripts and reports, mentor junior staff, and coordinate project activities while supporting growth of the practice.

Qualifications

• Mid-level commissioning engineers with 7+ years of experience.
• Data Center experience is required.
• BS in Electrical Engineering (or similar) is required.
• Willing to travel across the U.S. for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning and QA/QC testing of electrical equipment.
• Manage commissioning and testing projects, including client, internal team, and financials.
• Lead projects and write proposals, test scripts and reports.
• Mentor and train other Commissioning team members.
• Coordinate invoicing with Accounting; travel as needed.

Bala Consulting Engineers is a 200-person engineering firm headquartered just outside of Philadelphia in Wayne, PA with full-service offices in New York, NY, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC.

We are adding talented commissioning engineers with data center experience who will travel to client sites local to the Wayne, PA office and potentially throughout the US .

This role joins a team of industry leading on-site commissioning/QA/QC electrical systems testing engineers. This world class team performs ‘hands-on’ testing and provide technical oversight of electrical equipment and associated normal and standby power distribution systems. Oversight includes but is not limited to, electrical system(s) upgrades in existing facilities and new power systems testing (new construction) for fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. Projects include data centers, trading floors, broadcast facilities, high rise infrastructure and high-end offices. Scope typically includes UPS, Generator, power generation / distribution and controls systems. It also includes predictive preventative maintenance program planning and execution, and systemic and component troubleshooting throughout the commissioning process.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Mid-level commissioning engineers (7+ years of experience)
• BS in Electrical Engineering (or similar qualification-required)
• Data Center Experience (required)
• Military background in electrical system’s operation and repair is a plus
• Must be willing to travel across the U.S. for extended periods of time required to support project construction schedules and work various hours (days, night and weekends)
• Thermography Scanning Certification a plus
• Must have proficient technical writing skills (proposals, test scripts and reports)
• NETA Testing a plus
• Hardworking and well-motivated engineer with the desire to learn and solve problems
• Ability to work in the Wayne, PA office and perform work at client sites (new construction and existing facilities) as required
• Hold valid driver’s license
• Background check & drug screening may be required by client for onsite projects

What this opportunity entails:

• Perform commissioning and/or QA/QC hands on testing of electrical equipment.
• Manage Commissioning and Testing Projects (client, internal team and project financials)
• Lead projects and write proposals, test scripts and reports
• Mentor and train other Commissioning team members
• Coordinate invoicing with Accounting Department
• Attend conferences and networking events periodically
• National travel needed as necessary to complete Commissioning & Testing activities at client sites with reimbursement of expenses for travel/ lodging/car rental/meals.
