Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing seeks a Commissioning Engineer to lead final testing, startup, and commissioning of low and medium voltage equipment across field and manufacturing sites.

You will review electrical deliverables, perform basic calculations, and ensure compliance with NEC/NETA standards while maintaining safety. This role requires 10+ years of relevant electrical experience (or 8+ with higher education) and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant electrical experience with HS diploma or GED, OR 8+ years with associate or bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant electrical experience.
  • Possess a valid/active U.S. Work Authorization.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, and NETA ATS/MTS.

  • Assists more experienced Commissioning specialist coordinating, and reviewing electrical deliverables
  • Prepares and reviews simple electrical sketches, CX plans, and data sheets
  • Performs simple routine electrical calculations
  • Assists in review of supplier documentation for compliance with specifications
  • Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards

Job description

Overview

The Commissioning Engineer team is responsible for performing final testing, startup, and commissioning of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, as well as other electrical apparatus both in the field and in a manufacturing environment. An understanding of sophisticated electrical distribution systems of complex electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment for co-workers and customers and help ensure the overall success of projects. Local, regional, and national travel may be required.

  • Prepares and reviews simple electrical sketches, CX plans, and data sheets

  • Assists in review of supplier documentation for compliance with specifications

  • Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards


Qualifications


  • Applicants selected must have minimum 10+ years of relevant electrical experience with HS diploma or GED OR 8+ years of relevant electrical experience with associate degree or bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant electrical experience

  • Possess a valid/active U.S. Work Authorization


Candidate Expectations


  • Electronics Installation and/or Maintenance on Multiple Systems.

  • Using trade drawings e.g.: architectural, electrical, mechanical and civil to identify potential design and installation problems.

  • Knowledge of industry standards including sections of NETA ATS/MTS, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.


Desired / Advantageous Qualifications


  • OEM certified field service training program.

  • Certifications (desired/advantageous): NETA level III, or IV preferred

Pay Range
