Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Engineer I to perform routine commissioning tasks in a construction environment, applying basic engineering principles to ensure building systems are commissioned on schedule and to spec.

The role covers reviewing owner requirements, creating commissioning plans, conducting field inspections, and coordinating tests across mechanical, electrical, fire protection and life-safety systems, with travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of construction management or commissioning experience with MEP exposure.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Understanding of QA/QC processes and project documentation.
• Willing to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Review owner project requirements.
• Assist in performing scope reviews.
• Create commissioning plans, checklists, and tests.
• Perform field visits and observe inspections and tests.
• Write issue descriptions and field reports.
• Create Systems Manuals.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
• Support planning and execution of system tests (NETA, SCADA, controls, ops verification).
