About the Role
They are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery, testing, and operational readiness of large-scale mission-critical data center facilities.
This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer with strong electrical or mechanical commissioning experience who understands the demands of mission-critical environments and can work effectively across contractors, vendors, engineering teams, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commissioning activities from pre-functional checks through functional performance testing and integrated systems testing (L1–L5).
- Review commissioning documentation, drawings, sequences of operation, test scripts, and equipment schedules.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, controls, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for testing.
- Execute and witness testing of critical MEP systems and identify, troubleshoot, and close deficiencies.
- Support IST, failover, redundancy, and emergency operating scenario testing.
- Review equipment startup, installation verification, and pre-functional checklists.
- Track commissioning progress, deficiencies, test results, and system turnover documentation.
- Work closely with contractors and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure systems meet project requirements.
- Assist with final system acceptance, turnover, and operational readiness.
Requirements
- 1+ years of commissioning experience within data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, or similar complex environments.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, with a preference for candidates with an electrical or mechanical engineering background.
- Experience with L1–L5 commissioning and integrated systems testing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with general contractors, MEP contractors, vendors, controls teams, and client representatives.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Data center or hyperscale commissioning experience.
- Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, generators, UPS, switchgear, EPMS/BMS, cooling systems, and controls.
- Experience with load bank testing, black-building testing, or failure-mode testing.
- Experience using commissioning management/documentation platforms.
- Relevant engineering, commissioning, or technical certifications.
