The business is developing large-scale data center capacity across the U.S., with a focus on speed, reliability, and innovative engineering. This is an opportunity to join a commissioning team working on some of the most technically demanding mission-critical infrastructure projects in the market.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning & Field Engineer – Electrical to lead the commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure from the utility interface through to the rack.
You will be hands-on throughout Level 2–Level 5 commissioning, working closely with contractors, vendors, engineers, and project teams to ensure electrical systems operate as designed under both normal and failure conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission electrical distribution systems from the utility interface through to the rack
- Commission and test MV/HV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, EPMS and associated electrical infrastructure
- Develop and execute detailed test scripts covering protection systems, transfer schemes and failure scenarios
- Perform and oversee Level 2–Level 5 commissioning
- Oversee NETA testing and vendor startups, independently verifying equipment and test results
- Execute Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and full failure/\"pull-the-plug\" scenarios
- Review electrical one-lines, protection studies and coordination curves to identify potential design issues
- Work directly with vendors and contractors to maintain testing standards and project schedules
- Troubleshoot complex electrical systems and drive issues through to resolution
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, accurately and in accordance with project requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience commissioning electrical systems within mission-critical / data center environments
- Hands-on experience with Level 2–Level 5 commissioning
- Experience performing integrated systems testing and failure testing
- Strong understanding of electrical one-line diagrams, protection studies and coordination curves
- Experience with megawatt-scale load bank testing
- Ability to independently troubleshoot complex electrical systems
- Strong vendor and contractor management skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with significant project and schedule pressure
- Willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the U.S.
