Job Purpose
R3Di® pairs prime-rated generation with energy storage to give mission-critical facilities clean, conditioned power, full-load pickup, and continuous grid forming, whether it runs alongside the utility or independent of it. None of that is real until it is energized. This role is the senior technical authority at that moment, getting the switchgear, rectifiers, energy storage, and protection settings right on a live site, the first time.
As Commissioning Engineer, you will carry assigned projects from Factory Acceptance Testing through energization and turnover, working directly with the Field Commissioning Manager and taking on more site authority as you prove it out. You will coordinate EPC contractors and electrical subcontractors, work alongside the Associate Commissioning Engineer, and carry field findings back to engineering and operations. The role is built for someone who wants to grow into commissioning leadership as the team scales.
Location Requirement
This field-based position travels up to 70% to project sites, most of them in the Eastern United States. Candidates based in or willing to relocate to Bonita Springs, Florida are preferred, and relocation assistance is available; candidates residing elsewhere in the Eastern United States will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities on assigned projects, including inspection, testing, energization, and turnover of medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, generators, and energy storage systems
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing, and lead test activities on assigned projects as site authority grows
- Coordinate safe energization sequences, including verification of utility interconnection requirements, with EPC contractors, electrical subcontractors, utilities, and facility stakeholders
- Configure, test, and validate protection relays, control systems, and power conversion equipment against approved settings and design intent
- Review one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and equipment submittals for commissioning readiness before mobilization
- Troubleshoot electrical, protection, and integration issues under live operating conditions and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action
- Apply and enforce NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and lockout tagout requirements on site, including energized work planning
- Track punch lists, commissioning schedules, and milestone status for assigned projects
- Produce commissioning reports, energization records, as-built markups, and turnover packages
- Contribute to standardized commissioning procedures, checklists, and test scripts
- Share test methods and safe work practices with the Associate Commissioning Engineer and field technicians
- Cover site leadership for the Field Commissioning Manager when assigned
