Job summary

Nexus Data Centers in Hubbard, Texas is seeking a Commissioning Director to lead the commissioning of our onsite natural gas power plant, including gas turbines and reciprocating engines. You will build the team and own the program from start to handover.

This is a senior leadership role on a flagship project with opportunities to scale the campus and set new commissioning standards for repeatable handovers.

Qualifications

• Experience leading commissioning or startup of gas turbine or gas engine power plants (LNG experience with turbines also works).
• Built and ran a commissioning team including contractors and third party specialists.
• Owned energization and turnover to operations.

About Nexus

Nexus Data Centers is building one of the largest fully self powered AI data center campuses in the world in Hubbard, Texas. We are seeking a Commissioning Director to take charge of commissioning for our onsite natural gas power plant, including gas turbines and reciprocating engines. You will build the team, own the program, and hand the plant over to operations block by block.

What You Will Do

• Build and lead the commissioning organization, including hiring and managing commissioning managers, engineers, and technicians
• Develop commissioning plans, sequences, and procedures, and keep them aligned with the construction schedule
• Direct day to day field activity, from system walkdowns and checkouts through functional testing, startup, and energization
• Set and enforce the authority structure for testing and energization, including hold points, permits, and sign offs
• Manage contractors, equipment vendors, and third party specialists to keep testing on plan and to quality standards
• Run the completions process in the system of record, including check sheets, certificates, punch lists, and turnover packages
• Track progress, report status, and escape risks to project leadership
• Partner with the data center commissioning team so both sides operate as one coordinated program
• Hand completed systems over to operations on a repeatable cadence, and use lessons learned to improve each block

What You Bring

You likely come from onsite or data center power development, a power EPC or commissioning firm, a turbine or engine manufacturer, an independent power producer or utility building new gas plants, or an LNG owner or contractor. Wherever you have been, you have:

• Led commissioning or startup on gas turbine or gas engine power plants (LNG experience with turbines also works)
• Built and run a commissioning team, including contractors and third party specialists
• Owned energization and turnover to operations
• Used a digital completions and handover system as the system of record
• Willingness to be based in Texas
