Commercial Videographer / Editor
The Role

Studio Iowa is seeking a Commercial Videographer / Editor to guide the visual execution of our corporate video projects. In this role, you will serve as the primary on-set authority and visual storyteller for our core deliverables, which include 2–4 minute high-end corporate films and narrative case studies.

This position is structured as a 50% Production / 50% Post-Production split. We are looking for someone with a true cinematographer's eye who can achieve a premium commercial look. The right candidate thrives in the agility of a lean in-house 2–4 person crew, but can also shift to one-man-band mode when the project requires. You will not only light and shoot the content, but also carry that vision through the editing process. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Des Moines, Iowa area studio.

Key Responsibilities
  • On-Set Production & Cinematography (50%): Serve as the primary camera operator and lighting designer for corporate brand films, interviews, and narrative B-roll, both in-studio and on location.
  • Crew Leadership: Direct and collaborate seamlessly with a lean, nimble crew to execute high-level creative concepts efficiently without a massive footprint.
  • Post-Production / Edit (50%): Lead the initial editing phase in Adobe Premiere by dialing in the narrative and pacing, then collaborate with our dedicated post-production team of editors and motion designers to elevate the final cut and deliver a polished final product.
  • Client & Talent Direction: Interact professionally with corporate executives, on-camera talent, and clients to ensure they feel comfortable and confident on set.
  • Pre-Production, Gear Prep & Tech Strategy: Attend creative kickoff meetings, contribute to visual strategy, and oversee the preparation and maintenance of our cinema-style camera and lighting packages. We want a true "gear nerd" who takes pride in managing equipment and loves staying ahead of the curve on new camera tech, modifiers, and rigging solutions.
  • Project Management: Strong self-manager, able to meet all internal and client-facing deadlines across both production and post-production phases.
Travel Expectations

Contingent on the work our clients bring us, you can expect approximately 15–20% travel (typical 1–2 trips per month, averaging 2–4 days on location). The remainder of your time will be based out of our Urbandale, Iowa studio handling pre-production, gear prep, and post-production assembly.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Willingness to work full time on-site at our Urbandale, Iowa location.
  • 5-10 years of experience in professional corporate video or commercial production.
  • Mastery of cinema-style video cameras and advanced corporate/commercial lighting setups.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere and familiarity with the broader Adobe Creative Suite (including basic on-screen graphics).
  • Cross-Disciplinary Team Player: Proven ability to thrive in a highly collaborative studio environment, actively engaging in creative reviews, exchanging candid feedback across disciplines, and aligning personal creative vision with team and client objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for directing talent and interfacing with B2B clients.
  • Drone Operation: Hold an active FAA Part 107 license - or be willing to attain one shortly after starting - to operate drones during production shoots.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Education & Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience and professional portfolio.
Benefits

Studio Iowa offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; and a retirement plan with company match.

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000
