Job summary

Farm Bureau Financial Services is seeking a Sr. Commercial Underwriter I to evaluate renewals, policy changes, and audits while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.

You will support agents with presentations and quotes for prospects and client members and contribute to guideline updates. Ideal candidate holds a college degree plus seven years of underwriting experience and possesses strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent is required; at least seven years of relevant work experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills are required.
• Computer/keyboard skills as appropriate to this position.
• Knowledge of Farm Bureau inquiry systems, automated rating systems, underwriting manuals, valuation software, and related websites.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR are required due to travel.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Respond and resolve customer service requests promptly for external customers, departmental staff, and Farm Bureau personnel.
• Accept, modify, or reject new application submissions as well as policy changes; review premium audits and prepare policy renewals.
• Assist agents in preparing presentations and quotes for prospects or client members.
• Assist in developing and modifying existing guidelines to ensure desired results.
• Assist in updating procedure guidelines and evaluating new markets.
• Be available to support agents in the field with education for agents and client members and presentations when needed.
• Attend all company or departmental meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do:

What it takes to join our team:

• College degree or equivalent is required plus at least seven years relevant work experience required.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills are required.
• Computer/keyboard skills as appropriate to this position.
• Knowledge of all Farm Bureau inquiry systems, automated rating systems, underwriting manuals, valuation software for buildings and vehicles, and industry specific websites to support underwriting activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position.
• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required due to travel.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.
