Job summary

Reading Truck in Houston is seeking a Commercial Truck Upfit Technician to assemble and install bodies, plows, and accessories on brand-new chassis.

You will follow safety rules, use power tools, perform basic electrical and hydraulic hookups, and light welding, with on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical knowledge required.
• Intro welding capability and exposure to electrical/hydraulics.
• Comfort operating a variety of power tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and install service/utility, stake, and dump bodies aligned and secured.
• Fit plows and commercial accessories.
• Install hardware: hitches, shelves, ladder racks, mud flaps.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE on every task.
• Use power hand tools and maintain your basic tool set.
• Perform basic electrical wiring and light hydraulic hookups.
• Apply entry-level welding as needed.
• Learn from experienced mechanics and support the team.
• Tackle duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Commercial Truck Upfit Technician$2,250 Sign-On Bonus for qualified Technicians hired at levels II-IV.

A Day in Your Steel-Toed BootsYou clock in, gear up with PPE, and roll a brand-new chassis into your bay. By day's end, it's a fully outfitted workhorse ready to serve- because you installed the right body, wired the systems, and bolted on the tools that make it job-site ready.

What You’ll Build and Install

• Service/utility, stake, and dump bodies-fitted, aligned, and secured


• Plows and a wide range of commercial accessories


• Hardware and gear: hitches, shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, and more

How You’ll Do It

• Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE-every task, every time


• Use power hand tools confidently (bring your basic tool set)


• Perform basic electrical wiring and light hydraulic hookups


• Apply entry-level welding where helpful (tack/fit-up as needed)


• Train alongside experienced mechanics and support teammates


• Tackle other duties assigned by your Supervisor/Manager
