Job summary

Reading Truck Group in Arlington, TX is seeking a 2+ year Automotive Upfit Technician to install service bodies, stake bodies, hitches and other commercial truck accessories under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor.

You'll follow safety rules, perform basic welding and electrical wiring, read schematics, troubleshoot independently, and train with other mechanics. The team offers robust benefits and growth with Reading Truck's 65+ years in the industry.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of welding skills (metal and aluminum).
• 2+ years of electrical wiring experience.
• Ability to build schematics.
• Complex hydraulics knowledge and experience is a plus.
• Independent ability to troubleshoot.
• Ability to operate power hand tools and have basic tools.

Responsibilities

• Install truck bodies, plows, and other commercial truck accessories.
• Follow safety rules and comply with PPE requirements.
• Mount hitches, shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, etc.
• Train with other mechanics as needed.
• Perform basic welding when required.

How You Will Make an Impact

A 2+ Year Automotive Upfit Technician at Reading Truck works under the direction of the Shop Supervisor to complete the installation of specialty truck equipment such as service utility bodies, stake bodies, dump bodies, hitches, and other commercial truck accessories.

The Nuts and Bolts

• Follow safety rules and comply with all PPE requirements.
• Install truck bodies, plows, commercial truck accessories
• Mount hitches, shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, etc.
• Basic weld experience (helpful)
• Train with other mechanics as needed
• Other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager

Required Credentials

2+ years of welding skills (metal and aluminum)

2+ years of electrical wiring

Ability to build schematics

Complex Hydraulics knowledge and experience (a plus)

Independent ability to troubleshoot

Ability to operate power hand tools (and have basic tools)
