State of Georgia is seeking a Commercial Truck Driving Adjunct Instructor MT&T to teach in a lab/classroom environment. Compensation is $27.00 per contact hour, paid by contact hour, with adjunct positions offered per semester and no benefits.

Classes are typically face-to-face unless noted otherwise. Selected candidates must have a Certificate in Commercial Truck Driving, a Current CDL Class A, a clean MVR, and a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Commercial Truck Driving from an accredited institution.
  • Current CDL Class A Driver’s License.
  • Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of unrestricted Class A experience.
  • Clean Official MVR for the past seven (7) years.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Commercial Truck Driving in accordance with academic state standards.
  • Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.
  • Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads.
  • Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template.
  • Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues.

JOB SUMMARY

Adjunct faculty are responsible for presenting instruction in the specified subject area. The payment method is based on contact hours, with a rate of $27.00 per contact hour.

INSTRUCTION
  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Commercial Truck Driving in accordance with academic state standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Commercial Truck Driving.
  • Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.
  • Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads.
  • Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template.
  • Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues.
  • Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.
  • May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery.
  • Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Certificate in Commercial Truck Driving from an accredited institution.
  • Current CDL Class A Driver’s License
  • Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of unrestricted Class A experience.
  • Clean Official MVR for the past seven (7) years.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Accredited industry training in a CTD program and ten (10) or more years of unrestricted Class A experience.
  • Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Online teaching experience.
PAY & BENEFITS
  • $27.00 per contact hour.
  • All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on a per-semester basis based on the needs of the college.
  • Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment.
  • All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated.
SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Commercial Truck Driving program.
  • Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.
  • Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
  • Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
CURRICULUM/STUDENT AND PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
  • Prepares course curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepares lesson plans for instruction.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submits to the Commercial Truck Driving Program Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office, classroom, and lab equipment and technology.
