Job summary

The Athletic is seeking a Manager, Commercial Strategy and Finance in New York City. This hybrid role partners with the VP of Advertising Finance to architect and steward complex commercial initiatives and partnerships.

You will translate dense financial data into compelling visuals for leadership, build flexible models for diverse revenue streams, and help negotiate deal mechanics. You’ll own post-close performance and integrate deal results into forecasts, driving stakeholder value.

Qualifications

• BS in Finance/Economics required; MBA a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in corporate development, strategic finance, consulting or investment banking.
• Deep understanding of commercial deal terms, negotiations and deal processes.
• Experience with FP&A processes (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis).

Responsibilities

• Architect and steward of high-value commercial initiatives and partnerships.
• Translate dense financial data into executive visual narratives for leadership.
• Build flexible financial models for value of deals and revenue streams.
• Analyze and aid in negotiation of deal mechanics (MGs, revenue shares, recoupment).
• Own the full lifecycle of deals; track post-close performance and FP&A oversight.
• Integrate live deal performance into rolling forecasts and explain variances to leadership.
