Job summary

Sunstar Insurance Group LLC in Alabama seeks a dynamic leader to direct the day-to-day operations of the Small Business Unit, aligning local workflows with national initiatives and best practices.

You will coach teams, foster carrier relationships, and drive performance metrics to improve client experience and operational efficiency across the state.

This role requires seven years of commercial insurance experience, an active P&C license, and experience with Applied EPIC or similar agency systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years of commercial insurance experience.
• Experience servicing and managing commercial small business accounts.
• Active Property & Casualty license required.
• Experience with Applied EPIC agency management system strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Job description

• Coordinate the implementation of national and regional SBU initiatives, processes, and best practices within Alabama.
• Coach and mentor team members on workflows, service standards, carrier relationships, and operational best practices.
• Facilitate regular statewide team meetings and ongoing communication.
• Serve as a liaison between Alabama operations and national SBU leadership.
• Review performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, client experience, carrier engagement, and overall team performance.
• Manage marketing and servicing activities for an assigned book of SBU clients.

• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, coverages, and client service practices.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or team coordination experience.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with clients, carriers, and colleagues.
• Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office suite and agency management systems.
• Experience working with carrier service centers and carrier technology platforms preferred.

Education & Experience

• Minimum of seven years of commercial insurance experience required.
