Job summary

Envelop Group's EnvelopiQ division seeks a Security Systems Technician to install, configure, and service commercial electronic security systems at client sites in Indianapolis. You will drive to sites using a company vehicle and ensure systems operate to code and client requirements.

Responsibilities include wiring, programming of access control, CCTV, and intrusion devices, plus customer training and thorough documentation. Comprehensive benefits and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in physical security installation or related field.
  • Experience with access control, CCTV and intrusion systems preferred.
  • Smart, detail oriented and strong problem solving abilities.

  • Troubleshoot new installations to ensure proper operation and codes compliance.
  • Drive to client sites with a company vehicle to install and verify system functionality.
  • Run wiring and related installation tasks including drilling and cabling.

  • Document work and corrective actions thoroughly.

The Security Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, service, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems for commercial and enterprise level customers.

What you'll do:
  • Install, program, and configure commercial electronic security systems for commercial clients (door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, low voltage communication, electronic locks, point sensors, signaling devices, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot new installations to ensure the systems are functioning properly and satisfy codes.
  • Drive to client sites, with a company issued vehicle, to perform the system installation and confirm the system is operating effectively and meets requirements.
  • Run electrical wiring; related activities to include drilling, trenching, and aerial runs.
  • Responsible for the connection of control panels, application requirements, wire concealment and security software installation.
  • Program security systems and devices.
  • Provide customer training on the use and basic troubleshooting of common issues and programming features.
  • Document work performed and corrective actions thoroughly and descriptively.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronics, or communication systems preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in the physical security, fire alarm or low voltage communication industry installing field devices, and programing systems.
  • Experience with any or all of the following preferred: Access Control, Salto, Hirsch, Open Options, Genetec, Video Surveillance, Hanwha, Milestone, Vicon.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Sense of urgency, self-initiative, dedication, and sense of ownership.
  • Effective written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Outstanding ability to follow through from start to finish of work.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to balance multiple priorities.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
