Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation seeks a Commercial Pricing Supervisor to lead the design and maintenance of forward and market price curves across physical and derivative products within the ETRM system. You will guide a risk pricing team and ensure high data integrity and timely curve generation.

The role requires deep expertise in energy markets, derivatives, and ETRM software, with a focus on process improvements, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years in commodity market risk management; 2+ years in supervision preferred.
  • Experience with exchange derivative contracts (ICE, CME) and price reporting methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, IT systems experience, and ability to drive process improvements.
  • Knowledge of energy commodity market structures and ETRM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead curve development and maintenance for forward and market curves in the ETRM system.
  • Manage workflow for the pricing/risk team and mentor staff.
  • Configure price curves, market data, and valuation parameters in ETRM.
  • Provide expertise on derivatives, structured products, and complex valuation models.
  • Validate portfolio valuations and support reconciliations with Finance and Treasury.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Risk Control, IT, and Accounting to drive pricing improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, SOX controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in ETRM upgrades and tooling enhancements.

Job Summary

The Commercial Pricing Supervisor oversees the design, development, and maintenance of forward and market curves for all physical and derivative products represented in CITGO's trading portfolio. This position provides leadership and strategic direction to the risk pricing team, ensuring best practices in curve design and compliance with internal and external requirements. The Supervisor manages workflow, guides analysts in ETRM price curve configurations, complex derivative instruments, and risk reporting processes. In addition, this role collaborates with cross-functional departments to implement system and process improvements and provides expert insight into ETRM portfolio valuation and exposures.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of job related experience or minimum 7 years' experience in commodity market risk management with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of exchange derivative contract specifications (e.g., ICE, CME) and industry price reporting agency methodologies (e.g., Argus, Platts, OPIS) for building ETRM curves.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing risk processes, managing IT systems, and leading organizational performance improvements within a risk pricing context.

  • Comprehensive understanding of energy commodity market structures, with focus on crude oil, refined products, and related commodities (e.g., RINs).

  • Advanced proficiency with energy trading and risk management (ETRM) software platforms (e.g., ION RightAngle) and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI).

  • Strong quantitative skills in finance, economics, mathematics, or engineering.

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, conflict management, and mentoring.


Job Duties


  • Lead curve development & maintenance by overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of forward and market price curves for all physical and derivative products within the ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) system. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and data quality in price curve generation and management.

  • Team Leadership & Workflow Management of the commercial pricing/risk team responsible for market and forward curve creation, calibration, validation, and reporting. Allocate responsibilities, manage day‑to‑day workflow, and support professional development of team members.

  • Supervise and guide analysts in configuring price curves, market data, and valuation parameters within the ETRM system. Ensure all updates and modelling approaches are compliant with approved methodologies and business requirements.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversight for complex derivatives, structured products, and custom valuation models in the ETRM system.

  • Validate portfolio valuations and support reconciliation processes with other business units (Finance, Accounting, Treasury).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in Commercial, Risk Control, IT, and Accounting to drive process enhancements and automation initiatives related to pricing and risk management.

  • Ensure compliance with CITGO policies, SOX controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in the design, testing, and implementation of ETRM system upgrades and new analytical tools impacting curve construction and pricing workflows. Champion data integrity, documentation, and governance best practices for all curve and pricing‑related data.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for ETRM portfolio valuation, price exposure, and risk analytics for internal partners.
