Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is seeking an engineering-inclined intern to assist in project engineering activities across mechanical, civil, petroleum, chemical (non-electrical) disciplines. You will review documents, mark up drawings, and help create job scopes for ongoing projects within CITGO specifications for Terminals & Pipelines Operations and Asset Integrity.

The role emphasizes observation of field activities, engineering documentation review, and collaboration with Senior Project

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program with a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior classification.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

  • Generate discipline-related work scopes and complete project documentation updates / review.
  • Familiarize with CITGO Engineering practices by editing the engineering training manual and apply as necessary to perform assigned work tasks.
  • Assist with the update / creation of equipment reliability and integrity plans.
  • Review existing engineering documentation for completeness and consistency with current policies and procedures, including drawings and technical data.
  • Consult with Senior Project Engineers and Managers, and complete site visits in support of ongoing engineering efforts.
  • Site visits may include witnessing site activities and scoping / verification for projects.

For this position, job functions will be assigned based on an Employee's Engineering Discipline:
For Mechanical/Civil/Petroleum/Chemical (non-Electrical) Engineering Degrees:

Assist in the performance of Project Engineering activities which may vary from simple to moderate in various areas as they relate to fixed equipment (tanks, piping, valves), rotating equipment (pumps), and reliability (integrity management and inspection). Work will include supervised observation of inspection and construction activities, complete engineering documentation review (including review of P&IDs, site plans, piping schematics, mechanical and civil detail drawings, etc.) and provide mark-up, work to create engineering-discipline related job scopes for ongoing projects and assist with the update and creation of CITGO specifications as they relate to Terminals & Pipelines Operations, Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, and Asset Integrity.

For Electrical Engineering Degrees:

Assist in the performance of Project Engineering activities which may vary from simple to moderate in various areas as they relate to Electrical Engineering. Work will include observation of lockout/tagout energy isolation (supervised observation of and participation in zero energy verification), complete electrical engineering documentation review (including review of One-Line Diagrams, arc flash studies, P&IDs, motor control schematics, etc.) and provide mark-up, work to create job scopes for ongoing projects, and assist with the update and creation of CITGO specifications as they relate to Terminals & Pipelines Operations and electrical engineering.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
