Job summary

Medders Construction Co Inc is seeking a Skilled Commercial Refrigeration Lead Technician in La Porte, TX. Lead installation, maintenance, and repair of walk-in coolers, ice machines, and related systems at fast-paced commercial sites.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in commercial refrigeration, EPA 608 and TDLR, and a proven leadership track. A company vehicle is provided and responsibilities include mentoring junior techs and coordinating with managers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration installation and service.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and TDLR required.
• Strong knowledge of refrigerants, HVAC/R systems, and electrical controls.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience in a field technician role preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in tight spaces, and tolerate hot/cold environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues on commercial equipment
• Respond to service calls in restaurants, convenience stores, industrial facilities, and other commercial sites
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians on job sites
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety codes and industry standards
• Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration units, compressors, and condensing units
• Coordinate with project managers and clients to ensure timely job completion
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts documentation

About the Role:

Medders Construction Co Inc is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Refrigeration Lead Technician to join our team in La Porte, TX. This is a hands-on leadership role that focuses on installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining commercial ice machines, walk-in coolers, and related refrigeration equipment. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently in fast-paced commercial environments. We service over 120 retail stores all over greater Houston and surrounding areas. If you're a seasoned pro ready to make an impact, we want to hear from you!
