Job Description
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
The Commercial Portfolio Manager supports the commercial loan and deposit portfolio of one or more Relationship Managers (Commercial with some CRE), providing quality underwriting, sound portfolio management, and superior client service.
The Commercial Portfolio Manager I supports the commercial loan and deposit portfolio of one or more Relationship Managers (Commercial, CRE, or Middle Market), providing quality underwriting, sound portfolio management, and superior client service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Analyzes financial information to evaluate the creditworthiness of new loan requests, renewal loan requests, and ongoing Portfolio Management activities through thorough and accurate analyses within the parameters of the Bank's policies and procedures.
- Completes industry research, as needed, supporting existing and new Customers to the Bank.
- Compiles commercial loan packages (non-BL and BLE), ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided. The package includes, but is not limited to, a written credit memo with background information, financial analysis, risk assessment, proper risk grading, and recommendations.
- Performs additional credit analysis using in-depth tools outside traditional spreads and cash flow analysis when needed.
- Guides the loan request through the Credit Approval Process, ensuring the structure meets client needs and bank objectives.
- Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies for large commercial loans.
- Monitors and services large commercial loan portfolios through covenant testing, annual reviews, and exception management.
- Grades risk of each loan in the portfolio and recommends adjustments as circumstances change.
- Assists Relationship Managers in credit presentations to Credit Administration and Committees.
- Maintains documentation for all loans and approvals, working with Relationship Managers and Loan Officers to resolve deficiencies.
- Occasionally accompanies Relationship Managers on client calls.
- Builds positive relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders.
- Undertakes special projects as assigned by Credit Administration Leadership.
- Participates in professional development and cross-training opportunities.
- Works with team members to minimize past due loans.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to clients, demonstrating commitment to fair lending and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Builds relationships with external professionals to enhance the Bank's reputation.
- Stays informed about Bank products and services and adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
- Education: Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field; banking school or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience: 2-4 years in credit analysis, commercial banking, or portfolio management; familiarity with loan structuring and documentation preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of lending principles, regulations, and bank policies; excellent communication skills.
Training Requirements
Annual compliance training; New Employee Orientation.

Ability to interpret information on screens and documents; extensive computer use; may require bending and reaching.
Work Environment
Remote work requires a secure, quiet home office with reliable internet; travel may be necessary for meetings.
