Commercial Operations Manager - Power Stability

Job Description

The Senior Proposals Manager will independently manage and lead opportunities and proposals for the North America region in our Industrial segment.

Guided by commercial practices and policies, this position exercises high levels of commercial judgment and is responsible for evaluating the commercial terms for all prospective Industrial opportunities, as well as overseeing the risk process (including legal, financial, and commercial aspects).
This role reports to the North America Commercial Operations Leader and is an independent contributor.

Responsibilities
  • Develop commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage commercial risk to secure profitable business.
  • Lead contract negotiations and customer meetings, including legal aspects, and secure deal closure.
  • Create project cash flows considering project profiles, currency fluctuations, and cost escalation models.
  • Develop proposals for RFQ/RFI/RFP, collaborating with Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and Sourcing to align customer expectations with profitability and risk profiles.
  • Ensure compliance with the commercial risk process and lead risk assessment meetings.
  • Communicate complex concepts and influence stakeholders' opinions by guiding them to consider different perspectives.
  • Collaborate with other GE Vernova businesses globally to increase market penetration.
  • Use high judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks within projects, markets, and customer interactions.
  • Propose innovative solutions and construct recommendations based on multiple sources.
  • Work with regional teams to identify opportunities for simplification and productivity improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field with minimum 10 years of experience.
  • At least 5 years in Commercial operations, Sales, Business, or Contract Law, especially related to power generation equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years reviewing customer specifications, developing proposals, and negotiating contracts.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

  • Experience with large complex systems in the Industrial segment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Technical knowledge of electrical solutions, automation, motors, and drives.
  • Prior technical sales and contract negotiation experience.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and utilize sales tools like CRM and Excel.
