Job summary

Colliers in Minneapolis seeks a Commercial Mortgage Analyst to monitor and analyze the financial condition of existing commercial mortgage loans, at property and guarantor levels, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and performance tracking.

You will prepare periodic performance reports, review financial data, and support bankers using MS Excel and other tools. Bachelor's degree and 2+ years CRE experience required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum two years of CRE/ commercial mortgage lending experience.
  • Experience supporting closing of new transactions preferred.
  • Understanding of CRE industry via coursework, internships, or experience.
  • Familiarity with multifamily, industrial, office, retail and hospitality properties.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and executing new loan production with senior team members.
  • Develop periodic reporting packages for existing loans (monthly/ quarterly/ annual).
  • Analyze operating statements, rent rolls and financial statements for compliance.
  • Track occupancy and revenue metrics and compare to pro formas.
  • Review appraisals, environmental docs, and engineering reports.
  • Support Producers in client engagement and development.
  • Submit regular monitoring reports to bankers and loan servicing.
  • Conduct site visits and property inspections as needed.
  • Contribute to new processes and guideline updates; maintain attendance.

SUMMARY

The Commercial Mortgage Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the financial condition of existing commercial mortgage loans, both at the property level and at the guarantor level, to determine compliance with reporting requirements and reporting on the performance of the property and/or guarantor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of new loan production with senior team members
  • Develop and produce a periodic (monthly, quarterly, annually, as appropriate) performance and compliance reporting package for existing loans
  • Analyze financial information including operating statements, rent rolls, personal financial statements, and/or corporate financial statements to determine performance and compliance with reporting requirements and covenants (if any)
  • For income-producing properties, prepare tracking by reporting period of occupancy and average revenue by unit (using whatever reporting metric is appropriate to the specific property type), and comparing that to the Borrower’s and/or Appraiser’s pro formas which were used in the Loan marketing package
  • Review various reports including appraisals, environmental documentation, and engineering reports to determine compliance with loan requirements
  • Support efforts by Producers in client engagement and development
  • Submit regular monitoring reports to bankers and loan servicing
  • Conduct site visits and perform property inspections as needed
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures related to program revisions and guideline changes
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in Commercial Real Estate, commercial mortgage lending, or a related field required
  • Experience supporting the closing of new business transactions preferred
  • Foundational understanding of the Commercial Real Estate industry gained through successful completion of Real Estate focused coursework, internships, or professional experience preferred
  • Familiarity with the primary commercial property types including multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and hospitality
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required, advanced financial and data manipulation. functions in Microsoft Excel as well as experience with AI efficiency tools preferred
  • Ability to review and analyze complex financial and commercial loan documents
  • Broad intellectual curiosity including the ability and desire to grow professionally
JOB EXPECTATIONS
  • This is a full-time position in office three days a week.
  • Days of work are Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
