Job summary

Loenbro Southeast is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and systems.

The role collaborates with project managers, operations, vendors, engineers, and clients throughout preconstruction and bidding to ensure bid accuracy and value engineering opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of commercial mechanical estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems.
• Develop complete labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare bid proposals, budgets, conceptual estimates, and change order pricing.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and project site visits.
• Analyze project risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps.
• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during project handoff.
• Develop and maintain estimating databases, labor units, and cost histories.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy.
• Evaluate value engineering opportunities and alternative design solutions.
• Support contract negotiations and proposal presentations.
• Monitor bid results and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
