Job summary

Loenbro is seeking a Commercial Mechanical Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems across multiple project sites. You will analyze plans, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing, collaborating with project managers, vendors, and clients from preconstruction through bidding.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical estimating, strong reading of drawings, and proficiency with estimating tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of commercial mechanical estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems.
• Develop complete labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare bid proposals, budgets, conceptual estimates, and change order pricing.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and project site visits.
• Analyze project risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps.
• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during project handoff.
• Develop and maintain estimating databases, labor units, and cost histories.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy.
• Evaluate value engineering opportunities and alternative design solutions.
• Support contract negotiations and proposal presentations.
• Monitor bid results and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
