The Planet Group is seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician in the San Leandro area to provide hands-on maintenance across commercial properties. This field-based role requires daily local travel using a company vehicle, performing preventive, corrective, and general building maintenance while troubleshooting facility issues.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of multi-trade maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, with strong communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance per work orders.
• Troubleshoot and repair typical facility issues.

• Paint, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
• Maintain walls, floors, doors and other components.
• Perform minor electrical repairs as allowed by regulations.
• Document work orders and service reports clearly.
• Use tablets/smartphones to update records and communicate status.
• Build positive customer relationships during visits.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician to provide hands‑on maintenance and repair services across commercial customer properties in the local area.

This is a field‑based position requiring daily local travel between customer sites using a company‑provided vehicle and tools. The technician will perform preventive, corrective, and general building maintenance while troubleshooting a variety of facility issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong multi‑skilled maintenance background with experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and general building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance according to assigned work orders
• Troubleshoot and repair general facility and building maintenance issues
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, including toilets, urinals, valves, fixtures, faucets, and automatic flush sensors
• Perform routine painting, carpentry, and general maintenance
• Repair and maintain walls, floors, doors, and other facility components
• Perform minor electrical repairs as permitted by applicable state regulations, including fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts, and sockets
• Perform service and asset inspections
• Use tablets and/or smartphones to access and complete work orders and document service activities
• Submit service reports, quality inspection documentation, photos, timesheets, expense reports, and purchasing logs
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding service needs and work status
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships
• Procure materials and supplies needed to complete assigned work
• Provide estimates for larger repairs and project work when required
• Follow safety procedures, OSHA requirements, applicable codes, and company policies
• Complete required safety training and participate in weekly safety meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 2–5 years of general maintenance experience
• Hands‑on experience with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
• Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
• Commercial facilities maintenance experience preferred
• Additional trade training or certifications preferred
• Ability to travel locally between multiple customer properties on a daily basis
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
• Knowledge of general building systems and maintenance practices
• Ability to efficiently complete and document work orders
• Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and business software
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work instructions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service locations
