Job summary

New Edge Associates is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite commercial loan requests while ensuring transactions meet credit standards, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements. The role involves analyzing borrower financials, collateral, and cash flow to prepare detailed credit recommendations for approval.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or lending experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field preferred.
• Strong experience analyzing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and borrower information.
• Experience underwriting loans including C&I, CRE, lines of credit, asset-based lending, or equipment financing.
• Knowledge of credit principles, risk assessment, loan structuring, and repayment analysis.
• Experience reviewing credit reports, appraisals, UCC filings, insurance, title information, and collateral documentation.
• Ability to prepare detailed credit approval reports and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Formal commercial credit training strongly preferred.
• SBA 7(a) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new, renewal, and modified commercial loan requests per policy and risk standards.
• Analyze commercial credit opportunities including C&I, CRE, lines of credit, asset-based lending, and equipment financing.
• Review borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and other financial information.
• Evaluate cash flow, debt service capacity, leverage, liquidity, and profitability.
• Assess creditworthiness, risks, and appropriate loan structures.
• Review collateral-related documentation and protect collateral position.
• Prepare comprehensive credit approval reports and underwriting analyses.
• Provide clear credit recommendations to decision-makers.
• Work with Relationship Managers and Loan Officers to structure financing solutions.
• Participate in customer calls to understand borrower's needs and transaction details.
• Coordinate with customers, attorneys, appraisers, and third parties during underwriting.
