Commercial Loan Assistant II
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing exceptional service to bank customers by assisting with commercial loans as well as utilizing knowledge of the various accounts and products offered by the bank.
Responsibilities
- Explain, promote, and sell bank products and services as appropriate based on individual customer needs.
- Support First United’s strong relationship banking culture through ongoing customer contact, exceptional customer service, and superior product knowledge.
- Provide administrative support to the loan officer including closing, funding and booking loans, preparing loan worksheets, collecting and ordering necessary documents such as flood certificates, title work, and appraisals.
- Assist customers in filling out loan and/or credit applications.
- Update loan information in computer systems.
- Ensure that loan files contain documents with proper signature, dates, and other relevant data.
- Assemble and verify accuracy of loan documentation by checking documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates, and signatures.
- Prepare and monitor line of credit advances.
- Prepare and send wire forms to the Wire Department for wires requested by customers, for participation loans, and loan funding.
- Handle advances and paydowns on floor plan line of credit.
- Monitor and maintain sold and bought participation loans.
- Prepare and close deferrals.
- Provide assistance to the loan officer with exception reports.
- Coordinate loan closings.
- Gather and send all necessary information to CSR to open and make changes to customer accounts.
- Answer telephone inquiries and written inquiries concerning loan processing and account information.
- Receive and post loan payments.
- Prepare and mail past due letters and collection letters.
- Provide NADA values for customers.
- Perform variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
- Handle customer complaints and escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in and around work station.
- Recommend to supervisor possible methods to improve department.
- Complete all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
- Adhere to all First United policies and procedures.
- Dress professionally.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior banking experience.
- One to two years of prior loan assistant experience.
Technical/Functional Competencies
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong understanding of loans and loan products.
- Ability to initiate tasks and projects with little or no supervision.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
