Job summary

ACNB Bank in Gettysburg, PA is seeking a Commercial Loan Assistant to support our commercial lending team. You will prepare, process, and assemble loan documentation, coordinating with lenders, attorneys, and settlement agents to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years banking experience, meticulous attention to detail, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

Qualifications

• 3+ years banking or related experience supporting commercial loan products, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail with thorough data entry and documentation handling.
• Clear communicator who can collaborate with loan officers, specialists, customers and partners.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial information.
• Proficiency with common PC tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Prepare commitment letters, loan write-ups, memorandums, and loan packages for settlement and post-closing.
• Coordinate loan documentation with attorneys, settlement agents, insurers and internal staff to ensure accuracy before closing.
• Process advances and paydowns, update tickler systems, and file loan documents for record-keeping.
• Track missing documentation (insurance, financials, agreements) to keep files current and compliant.
• Support reporting by aiding the Credit Administration team with lending reports and projects.

As a Commercial Loan Assistant, at ACNB Bank, you’ll work directly with our Commercial Lenders, Specialists, and Credit Administration team to prepare, process, and assemble the documentation that powers our business lending. This is an ideal role for someone who has worked in commercial loan servicing or documentation and is looking to take the next step in their career—gaining exposure to all aspects of commercial lending in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

What We're Looking For

• Banking Experience — at least 3+ years of banking or related experience, supporting commercial loan products, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Exceptional Attention to Detail — demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness in handling documentation, data entry and loan-related tasks.
• Effective Communication & Cross-Functional — communicates clearly and collaborates seamlessly with loan officers, documentation specialists, customers, and external partners.
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Ability — Interprets financial information, identifies discrepancies, and supports decision-making with sound judgment.
• Technical proficiency — Strong PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Education — a high school diploma is required, and additional education (business emphasis) is preferred.
• A valid driver's license

What You'll Do

• Support Commercial Lenders by preparing commitment letters, loan write-ups, memorandums, and assembling loan packages for settlement and post-closing.
• Coordinate loan documentation with attorneys, settlement agents, insurance companies, and internal staff to ensure all information is accurate and complete prior to closing.
• Process advances and paydowns on commercial loans, update financial information on tickler systems, and file or scan commercial loan documents for record-keeping.
• Track and follow up on missing documentation such as insurance, financial statements, and business agreements to ensure loan files remain current and compliant.
• Assist with reporting by supporting the Credit Administration team with lending reports, SBA filings (if applicable), and other departmental projects.
