Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University seeks an experienced in-house attorney to provide day-to-day legal counsel and operational support across a defined business domain. The role partners with business leaders to ensure legal guidance aligns with objectives and risk tolerance.

Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating agreements, guiding complex matters, and coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel. A JD from an ABA-accredited school and 5 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
• 5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
• Experience providing practical, solution oriented legal advice.
• Comfort operating in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day to day legal advice and guidance to business partners.
• Support department leadership on complex or escalated matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and legal documents.
• Partner with business stakeholders to support execution of TJU initiatives.
• Identify legal risks and elevate issues appropriately.
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
• Investigates facts and circumstances relating to disputes and manages litigation matters as assigned.
• Liaise between Thomas Jefferson University Office of Legal Affairs, internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
• Coordinate and oversee discovery efforts and preserve, collect, and produce documents as required.
• Review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements and other litigation-related documents.
• Assist in developing litigation strategies and provide recommendations regarding legal risk and dispute resolution.
