A law firm seeks an experienced commercial litigation associate to join its Detroit, Michigan office. This position offers a dynamic opportunity for an attorney with at least two years of civil litigation experience to work on a broad spectrum of complex legal matters. Duties:
- Handle a diverse range of commercial litigation matters, including but not limited to contract disputes, business torts, insurance coverage, and complex civil cases.
- Manage cases independently, from initial client consultations to trial preparation and court appearances.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements with precision and strategic foresight.
- Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys, ensuring each matter progresses efficiently and effectively.
- Engage directly with clients, providing clear and actionable legal counsel throughout the litigation process.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolutions to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Foster relationships with colleagues and clients, contributing to a collegial, team-focused environment.
- Participate in formal mentorship and continuing legal education programs to enhance professional development.
Requirements:
- At least two years of experience in civil litigation, ideally with exposure to commercial disputes, business torts, and insurance coverage matters.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to prepare and present complex legal arguments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including proficiency in drafting legal documents and engaging with clients.
- Self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to take on significant case responsibility and work independently while remaining an integral team member.
- Licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois, with good standing in both states.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active bar memberships in Michigan and Illinois.
