Job summary

Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP in New York City seeks an associate for its Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will handle complex commercial litigation from start to finish, including motion practice, discovery, and depositions, with strong writing, research, and client service skills.

Candidate should have 3–12 years of experience (6+ preferred), be detail‑oriented, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in New York State and Federal civil procedure.
  • Experience with phases of litigation and arbitration.
  • Excellent writing, research, analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong client service and work product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Draft complete sets of motion papers, pleadings, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs in state and federal courts and ADR proceedings.
  • Research effectively and efficiently, with knowledge of Westlaw.
  • Draft discovery demands and responses, and be well‑versed in e‑discovery.
  • Conduct depositions – first chair deposition experience preferred.
  • Communicate effectively with an international clientele.

What the role entails

TKD seeks an associate to join our Litigation Practice Group and serve high‑end, global clientele. The ideal candidate will have 3‑12 years of experience (6+ years preferred) managing all phases of complex commercial litigation cases, be highly motivated and detail‑oriented, with a strong work ethic. Excellent writing, research, analytical and communication skills are a must. Candidates must be highly responsive, as well as committed to providing exceptional client service and top quality work product.

Essential responsibilities
  • Draft complete sets of motion papers, pleadings, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs in state and federal courts as well as in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Research effectively and efficiently, with knowledge of Westlaw.
  • Draft discovery demands and responses, and be well‑versed in e‑discovery.
  • Conduct depositions – first chair deposition experience preferred.
  • Effective and responsive communication with an international clientele.
Qualifications and skills
  • Proficiency in New York State and Federal civil procedure.
  • Experience with various phases of litigation and arbitration, including preparation of injunction papers.
  • Works well under pressure, required to handle multiple cases and/or matters.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellence in research, writing, and legal analysis.
  • Excellent academic background and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be admitted to New York State and Federal Courts.
  • Admission in New Jersey State is a plus.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Compensation & benefits

The good faith base annual salary range for this position is a minimum of $130,000 to a maximum of $215,000. The actual salary rate offered within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to years of relevant experience, applicable bar admissions, office location, and the candidate's overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm. Market and firm factors are also considered.
