Murphy Insurance Agency, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Lines P&C Placement Specialist to market, negotiate, and place new commercial insurance business.

You will collaborate with producers, account managers, and underwriters to secure competitive coverage that meets client needs. Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of commercial P&C insurance experience.
• Active Property & Casualty license.
• Proven marketing and placing new business.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience with middle market or large accounts is a plus.

Description

The Commercial Lines Property & Casualty (P&C) Placement Specialist is responsible for marketing, negotiating, and placing new commercial insurance business with carriers. This role works closely with producers, account managers, and underwriting partners to secure competitive coverage solutions that meet client needs while maintaining carrier relationships.

This position can be located in our Hudson, MA or Groton, MA office or fully remote in MA, NH, or RI only . The hours for this full-time position are: M-TH 8am-4:30pm; F 8am-4pm.

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

• Review new business submissions for completeness, quality, and marketability
• Develop and execute marketing strategies for commercial P&C risks
• Submit applications to appropriate carriers and wholesalers
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with underwriters
• Analyze coverage proposals and recommend optimal solutions
• Maintain accurate records in Agency Management System (EPIC)

Market & Carrier Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and wholesale partners
• Stay current on carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and market trends
• Identify new markets and coverage solutions to enhance placement capabilities

Collaboration

• Partner with producers to understand client risk profiles and sales strategies
• Work with account management teams to ensure seamless handoff after placement
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex risks and coverage structures

Proposal & Documentation

• Work with sales team to prepare comprehensive insurance proposals
• Review binders, quotes, and policy documents for accuracy
• Ensure all placements comply with internal and regulatory requirements

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and placement success rates
• Support standardization and best practices in submission and marketing processes

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

Required

• 5–7+ years of experience in commercial P&C insurance (agency, broker, or carrier)
• Strong knowledge of commercial lines coverages (e.g., GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella, Workers’ Compensation, Professional)
• Proven experience in marketing and placing new business
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Active Property & Casualty insurance license

Preferred

• Experience with middle market or large account placements
• Established carrier relationships
• Prior experience utilizing Applied EPIC
• CPCU, CIC, or other industry designations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple submissions and deadlines simultaneously
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to evolving business needs and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
