Job Overview
The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, supporting client relationships, coordinating renewals, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of policy and account services. This role serves as a key point of contact for commercial clients and works closely with insurance carriers to address coverage, billing, service, and claims-related matters.
The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, including ongoing account servicing and policy renewals.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial clients by responding to phone calls, emails, and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide day-to-day client support, including answering coverage questions, processing certificate requests, and addressing billing inquiries.
- Prepare proposals, endorsements, policy documents, certificates, and other insurance-related documentation.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers to obtain quotes, process policy changes, resolve service issues, and support client needs.
- Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to facilitate the resolution of claims, billing, coverage, and service-related issues.
- Troubleshoot account and billing discrepancies and coordinate appropriate resolutions.
- Monitor account activity and follow up on outstanding items, policy changes, renewals, and carrier requests.
- Accurately document client and carrier communications, account activities, and service requests.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information in agency management systems and other automated platforms.
- Review system records regularly to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of account data.
- Prepare account reports, management reports, and other documentation as requested.
- Maintain organized records of client correspondence, policy documents, transactions, and account activity.
- Stay current on commercial insurance products, industry practices, regulatory requirements, and applicable procedures through continuing education and professional development.
- Attend industry-related training, courses, meetings, and educational programs as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues and provide support to other team members to ensure efficient account servicing and team performance.
- Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Prior experience in commercial insurance, account management, customer service, or a related insurance environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance policies, coverage, certificates, endorsements, renewals, and billing processes.
- Experience working with insurance carriers and agency management systems.
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling policy information and client records.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance agency management systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client and policy information appropriately.
