Job summary

Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust is seeking a Portfolio Manager Team Lead to support Commercial Banking Executives in originating loans and managing the credit portfolio. You will collaborate with the origination team and credit risk managers to structure transactions, review financial statements, perform due diligence, assess credit risk, and prepare deal presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field.
• Minimum three years underwriting and account management experience in commercial lending.
• Strong financial statement analysis and modeling skills.
• Experience with credit policy and risk evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Determine borrowing customer's needs and develop loan structures with executives.
• Review and spread company/guarantor financial information.
• Perform in-depth analysis of new credit requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain knowledge of lending policies and identify policy exceptions.
• Recommend appropriate risk ratings per policy guidelines.
• Lead meetings, discuss transactions, and develop term sheets and deal screens.
• Structure transactions to meet client needs and bank requirements.
• Perform cash flow, trend and sensitivity analyses for deal screens.
• Support presentations to credit committee for approvals.
• Monitor covenants and reporting requirements.
• Assist with renewals, extensions and annual credit reviews.
• Perform other duties as directed.
