Job summary

Prevail Recruiting seeks an experienced commercial HVAC service technician in Middlefield, CT to act as a technical anchor for the team. You’ll handle scheduled service, troubleshooting, equipment startups, and major repairs while working with the service manager and project managers.

This hands-on role focuses on diagnosing and repairing equipment, not sales. Most work is scheduled at two sites per day with rare after-hours hospital projects, plus a company vehicle and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial HVAC service experience and CT license.
• EPA certification and strong rooftop HVAC troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with building management systems (BMS) and controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment startups on new commercial projects.
• Maintain large commercial rooftop units and HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues, including controls and BMS.
• Perform compressor replacements and other major repairs.
• Coordinate with service manager and project managers in the field.
• Represent the company professionally at client sites.

Pay: $50–$65 per hour, based on experience

Additional Comp: Quarterly Bonuses, 1.5X after 40 Hours

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. | No on-call rotation

An established commercial mechanical contractor based in Middlefield, Connecticut. Our installation business is well established, and we’re growing our service division, especially our maintenance agreements.

About the Job:

We’re looking for an experienced commercial HVAC service technician to serve as a technical anchor on the team. You’ll handle scheduled service, complex troubleshooting, equipment startups, and major repairs while working closely with our service manager and project managers. This is a hands‑on technical role focused on diagnosing and repairing equipment—not sales or upselling. Most work is scheduled, typically at two locations per day. Some days may involve three or four locations, and some projects may take a full day.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment startups on new commercial projects
• Maintain large commercial rooftop units and other HVAC equipment
• Troubleshoot complex system issues, including controls and building management systems (BMS)
• Perform compressor replacements and other major repairs
• Complete scheduled maintenance and service work at client locations
• Coordinate with the service manager and project managers, leading technical execution in the field
• Represent the company professionally at client sites, including hospitals and other sensitive environments
• Occasionally work after hours or weekends for special projects, such as hospital shutdowns; this work is rare

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
• Connecticut S1, S2, D1, or D2 license
• EPA certification
• Located in Central or Eastern Connecticut
• This position is not a fit for someone operating a competing commercial HVAC business.

Pay range and compensation package

• $50–$65 per hour, based on experience
