Job summary

Hunton Trane, a division of the Hunton Group, is seeking an experienced Startup & Warranty Technician to lead startup activities within Applied Commercial HVAC systems. You will ensure installations meet design intent, codes, and owner requirements, coordinating with contractors, vendors, and commissioning teams.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in commercial HVAC, knowledge of pumps, VFDs, heat exchangers, BAS, and a commitment to safety, quality, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant applied HVAC equipment experience.
• Strong knowledge and proven experience implementing the startup of typical commercial HVAC systems.
• Fundamental understanding of instrumentation, controls, and BAS systems.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities under tight schedules.
• Detail-oriented approach with a strong focus on safety, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Execute detailed startups according plans and procedures while maintaining scheduled time frames.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, and vendor startup activities into one integrated effort.
• Verify that systems are installed in accordance with design documents, project specifications, and readiness requirements before startup.
• Oversee the startup of commercial systems, including pumps, VFDs, heat exchangers, valves, sensors, instrumentation, and BAS.
• Communicate with mechanical trades regarding schedules, punch lists, startup and warranty logs and training.
• Participate in commissioning meetings, progress reporting, and client updates where applicable.
• Ensure completion and accuracy of startup reports, test results, and deficiency logs.
