Job summary

Shafer Services Plus, a San Antonio HVAC leader, seeks skilled technicians to install, service, and diagnose commercial HVAC/R systems. You'll work on boilers, chillers, VRF, building automation, and related equipment with emphasis on safety and customer service.

Requirements include 3+ years in HVAC, EPA 608, valid driver's license, and strong troubleshooting abilities. On-site role with weekday schedule and on-call rotation; Texas experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of HVAC trade experience, with commercial HVAC experience required.
• Candidates with a combination of residential and commercial experience may be considered if their experience shows progression toward commercial HVAC work.
• Open to Level 3 HVAC Technicians and above, with a strong preference for higher-level commercial HVAC technicians.
• Must have hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems.
• Must have strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.
• Texas TDLR registration is preferred for candidates already working in Texas. Out-of-state candidates may obtain it after relocating.
• Chiller experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC systems, including air conditioning equipment, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on commercial HVAC/R equipment to improve reliability and equipment life
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and HVAC system failures using professional diagnostic equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, wiring, compressors, mechanical components, and refrigeration systems
• Repair and replace defective HVAC components and restore systems to proper operation
• Read and interpret HVAC schematics, blueprints, specifications, and technical manuals
• Inspect equipment and complete work according to applicable safety requirements and refrigerant-handling regulations
• Communicate clearly with customers about equipment condition, repairs, and system status
• Deliver dependable workmanship and professional customer service on every call

• Monday through Friday schedule, generally around 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM

• On-call rotation, currently approximately every five weeks

• New hires typically work alongside another technician for approximately one to two weeks while learning company systems and processes

Your New Role
