Job summary

Shafer Services is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems in Austin, TX. Join a team focused on quality workmanship, profitability, and customer satisfaction, with a 7:30 AM–5:00 PM schedule and an on-call rotation roughly every five weeks.

eligible candidates will have at least 3 years of HVAC trade experience, commercial HVAC experience, a valid driver's license, and EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years HVAC trade experience, with commercial HVAC experience required.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.
• Texas TDLR registration is preferred for candidates already working in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems.
• Perform commercial HVAC service, maintenance, and equipment repairs.
• Identify system and equipment problems and determine effective repair solutions.
• Complete service work with a focus on quality, efficiency, and profitability.
• Communicate clearly with customers and team members throughout service calls.
• Follow established processes while looking for opportunities to improve how work gets done.
• Contribute to team success through dependable workmanship, communication, and a positive attitude.

• Monday through Friday schedule, generally around 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM

• On-call rotation, currently approximately every five weeks

• New hires typically work alongside another technician for approximately one to two weeks while learning company systems and processes

• Minimum of 3 years of HVAC trade experience, with commercial HVAC experience required.

• Candidates with a combination of residential and commercial experience may be considered if their experience shows progression toward commercial HVAC work.

• Must have hands‑on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems.

• Must have strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem‑solving skills.

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.

• Texas TDLR registration is preferred for candidates already working in Texas. Out‑of‑state candidates may obtain it after relocating.

• Open to Level 2 HVAC Technicians and above

• Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • VRF/VRV systems

  • Air‑cooled chillers

  • Water‑cooled chiller

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

  • Building control systems

• Candidates do not need experience with every system listed above. Specialized experience in one or more of these systems may be considered in place of broader experience
